Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) Benefits

Applies to: Los Angeles County Workers Impacted by California Wildfires and Severe Winds. Determine your eligibility here.

In response to the wildfires and windstorms, federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) is now available for workers and self-employed people who do not qualify for regular unemployment benefits. DUA benefit claims must be filed by March 10, 2025.

Government-Run Debris Removal Program

Applies to: Residents affected by the Wildfires

As a resident affected by the wildfires, you have two choices for managing debris removal: Opt-In to the Government-Run Debris Removal Program, OR Opt-Out and Manage Cleanup Without Government Assistance.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance

Applies to: Any individual affected by the California Wildfire and Straight-line Winds.

Provides the necessary support for housing assistance, personal property loss, and other disaster-related expenses.

Physical Property Damage Loan: SBA Disaster Loans

Applies to: Homeowners, renters, nonprofit organizations, and businesses of all sizes.

The Physical Property Damage loans offer financial assistance to businesses, nonprofits, homeowners, and renters for repairing or replacing damaged property and covering economic losses.

LA Region Small Business Relief Fund

Provides grants ranging from $2,000 to $25,000 for businesses and nonprofits that experienced structural damage, inventory loss, or revenue loss. Open to businesses with annual revenue up to $6 million and fewer than 100 employees.

LA Region Worker Relief Fund

Applies to: Workers who lost employment or income due to the wildfires.

The Worker Relief Fund provides $2,000 in direct cash assistance to workers who lost employment or income due to the wildfires. Eligible applicants must have been employed or self-employed (including domestic workers) in Los Angeles County at the time of the disaster.

FEMA Request for Public Assistance: Private Nonprofits and Faith-Based Groups

Applies to: Private nonprofits and faith-based groups that were impacted by the Los Angeles County Wildfires.

FEMA Public Assistance (PA), which supports the repair and replacement of publicly owned infrastructure and buildings damaged in disasters, also assists private nonprofit (PNP) organizations, including houses of worship and other faith-based organizations that provide certain social services.

Applies To: Businesses located outside 90402, 90272 and 90049 zip codes affected by the wildfires.

For taxpayer with a business located outside of 90402, 90272 and 90049 zip codes, but whose business was interrupted as a direct result of the fires, may be granted a Wildfire Business Tax Filing extension.

How to Apply:  Complete this form online. **Make sure along with written request, you need to include reasonable proof of the interruption to the Office of Finance.
